Refried Beans in an Instant Pot


INGREDIENTS
1½ tsp. salt
1½ tsp. pepper
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 pound dry Pinto beans
1 onion
3 cloves of garlic or minced garlic
2 oz Baco Bits
1 t Chili powder
2 cups of Hondashi Broth


INSTRUCTIONS
To make the Hondashi broth
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil
Add 4 teaspoons of Hondashi powder
Remove water from heat and add 3 tablespoons Miso paste stirring in to incorporate the paste

Preparing the Pinto Beans
Add the Pinto beans to 4 cups of water
Boil the water for 15 minutes
Drain the water, rinse the beans in a colander and set aside

Preparing the Added Ingredients
Mince the onion
Saute the onion in a fry pan using 1 t of Olive Oil until browned
Pour 2 cups of Hondashi or other broth into the Instant Pot
Add the onions, garlic, onion, Baco Bits, salt, pepper, chili powder to the cooked Pinto beans
On the Instant Pot, select the Meat/Stew or Pressure Cook button
Set the cook time to 30 minutes.
When the cooking cycle has finished, allow the pot to sit for 10 minutes, and then do a quick release by moving the valve to Venting
Transfer the contents of the Instant Pot to another pot
If the beans are too thin, pour off liquid as necessary
If the beans are too thick, thin with reserved broth or Olive Oil
